Hi all!
Just found these forums and looks like a good place to ask these things:
I have a mostly restored Wurlitzer / Sonata 1050 (it's using parts from both interchangeably as there were two different donors to make one working machine) that a guy just helped me get working. I call it a WurliNata at this point and it's just using innards from all over the place after doing some looking.
I have two questions:
1. I have 16 Ohm speakers and I've got them connected to A terminals. At 16-ohm they are less load than 8-ohm so I assume there is no issue with this? I doesn't seem I have a 16-ohm choice any place on the terminals. I can wire in a resistor in parallel if needed I suppose, but any reason to be concerned?
2. Is there any place that is a good source of plastics for these things? I need the upper arch plastic (The outer, not the inner) and the little piece of plastic that shows how much each play costs on the right side of the deck, to the left of the coin chute. Mine looks like some one took a hammer to it.
3. Finally, does anyone replace the bulbs with LEDs? The LEDs that look like bulbs of course and create 360 degree light etc. Wondering what the thoughts are on that.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide!
Interesting find: I needed to replace the 1974 Wurlitzer Transformer on the power supply and I found one marked for the Sonata from 1983? I didn't realize Sonata was going that long after Wurlitzer died in 1975 and by 1987 or 88 Rockola had the rights to the 1050/Nostalgia, so kind of odd. Would love to know more history but seems hard to find info on Sonata and Wurlitzer was in such bad shape by 73 there is a garbled mess of history.
