Hi Everyone,
My Wurlitzer 1100 was working fine and sounded good.
I rolled it forward to lube/service it and clean out any dust.
Now I have no sound!
I assumed that I upset a lead or cable, but I certainly cannot find anything. Fuses all okay, cables and tubes all seated well.
The only tube that lights up in the amp is the 5U4G. Does this provide any clues?
Any direction much appreciated.
Regards Gordon......

Good day Gordon, I found it, HERE--PLEASE turn it down-- woke me up at 3:55 this AM ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably, "a connection" in the filament supply to all the tubes other then the 5U4, which is supplied by another source. L@ k at the schematic-- is that supply fused ? If so, re-check that fuse with a meter ! If you moved your phono with the power on, I would suspect that one of the tubes shorted out(for a second, or perhaps, forever ?)---do you have a tube tester ? Ron Rich

Hi Gordo,
Check the tonearm cable where it connects at the mech board plug. My 1100 very occasionally does what yours is doing and when I move the wires around just a little bit near the plug, the sound instantly comes back. It's been on my repair to-do list for a while now. I'm not an electrician but I think the outer sheath of that wire is the ground source so maybe it's touching the important hot side.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for responding.
It's working.
Ron, I don't have a tube tester, however, I recently had the amp checked and the technician said the tubes were okay. He is not a jukebox person but repairs guitar amps, so, his help ends at the amp. Bill, I had checked the tonearm, wire and needle first, all okay.
I went through my old Always Jukin' magazines and found a 'Dr Know-it-all' question with the same problem. Harold advised to clean the relay contacts inside the amp. This relay is in the fast-warmup circuit.
That's what I did and it's now working. Hopefully it stays working.
Thanks again for your time.
Regards

Unfortunately I celebrated too soon.
After working for a few weeks, it's stopped again. No sound.
All the tubes are lit and warm, so, I'm stuck, and don't know what to check next. I removed the amp and nothing obvious, Fuses okay. I cannot find anything loose. I put a meter from the needle to the input and it is connected. I also checked the mute switch and it's working.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Gordon, Do you understand the "fast warm-up circuit" ? How, didja "clean" that relay last time ? Ron Rich

G'day Ron,
No, I don't understand the fast warm up circuit. I guess it gets things running while the tubes fully warm up?
I cleaned the points by soaking some 1000 grit paper in isopropyl alcohol and ran it back and forth between both points.
Cheers Gordon...

Hi Gordon, Well yes-- sorta-- it supplies a higher voltage to the output tubes so that the 1st. record can be heard, after the amp has been "sitting awhile"-- That is NOT how I would clean them-- see the stickies on Contacts/over-center switches, in our FAQ's section-- Ron Rich

Hi everyone,
As an update, The jukebox is working again and no scratchy sound (please see my other post).
I convinced my amp guy to have another look. He is retiring shortly and is trying to clear his backlog of guitar amp work.
He found a faulty capacitor that was causing the scratchy noise. When he tried to find it on the schematic, it does not exist. So, he removed it. It was soldered on top of a resistor (which he replaced). He also spent some time cleaning the plug from the tone arm into the pre-amp. The jukebox now works fine and sounds pretty good. I need to look for a new needle as the one I have installed is very old. I have a couple of newer needles, however, they sound worse!
Thanks for your help and advice once again.
Regards
Gordon.....
