I have an issue with a Wurlitzer 1900 that I have not experienced before. During playback, once a pin is selected, the the selector crank searches for the pin, makes contact and immediately reverses, traveling 180 degrees, hits the backside of the pin and then reverses again constantly. Someone told me the crank could be rusted internally and has stuck to the main shaft. His suggestion was to try and break it loose. Before I go manhandling it, are there any thoughts on the topic? BTW, the mech is out of the machine and the mounting plate removed (no carousel attached).

No carousel ? = No backstops ?? If so, not sure, but that's what I would consider to be the cause of this behavior ? Ron Rich

So what you are saying is the chassis mounting plate and carousel must be attached when testing the basic operation of the mechanism? I was thinking the Pawl Assembly (#59537) on the main cam would latch when the crank tried to go counterclockwise (which it does).

I dono-- never attempted to run an incomplete mechanism ? But I THINK, the backstop pawl is what would prevent it from moving backwards. Put it together and tell me if, or if not, I am correct --- ? Ron Rich
