Rock Ola 404 - still has issues

Hello

Basically when I put this into scan the turntable only spins. When I put it into operate the turntable automatically spins. I have replaced the micro switches, the rectifier and juice seems to be getting to everything. When I first powered the machine up this morning after replacing the rectifier, the carousel was not in its home position, when placed into scan it actually spun to its home position, now its just the turntable that spins.

It almost to me feels like something is connected incorrectly as the turntable should not spin in scan.

Some words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Hi Darren,
The turntable does spin in "scan". It is enabled by a contact of the play control relay, the same relay which operates the magazine motor - see the description on page 12 of your manual.

When you put the service switch in "scan", the magazine and turntable will rotate for as long as you hold the switch in "scan". When you put the service switch in "operate", the magazine and turntable will rotate (provided no selections are made) until the magazine reaches the home position. In the home position, the home switch opens, de-energising the play control relay.

Do you think the play relay could be faulty?

As the carousel in scan stays in the home position, doesn't move, only the turntable moves.

What difference does it make at this point ? L@k at the relay-- energized, or not ? Contacts pitted or burred ? Is the gripper FULLY, over the record basket ? Do you know how to, and, didja check the Micro Switches ? --If you don't know how to check them, see the FAQ's sticky on "Contacts" and the one on "Over-center switches". Ron Rich
