Hi All,
I have this ongoing issue that I'm trying to track down. Posted it a month or two ago regarding playing, returning record to magazine and immediately playing it again. I made the cleaning and adjustments as suggested and it seemed to work but now back to its' usual incorrect behaviour. The cams and clutches have been cleaned and lightly oiled where required.
If the machine has been sitting for a couple of minutes, this behaviour starts with the first selected record:
1. Selects and plays fine; The trip lever moves firmly, in one single motion, from scan to play position.
2. At end of record, tonearm trips the trip switch causing the solenoid to lift the trip lever returning the record to the magazine.
--> At the very point when the record is fully placed into the magazine and the trip lever is supposed to drop into the SCAN position on the cam, it doesn't.
--> The cam continues around, returning the record back to the spindle, and the trip lever drops easily back into the PLAY position on the cam and plays the record.
--> When the cam is rotating from PLAY to SCAN I notice that the trip lever doesn't move down easily - it appears to hang for a moment on the Solenoid pin.
---> It gets hung at the point where the trip lever is supposed to drop into the SCAN notch on the Cam. So the Cam continues around again until the PLAY notch comes up the the Trip Lever drops easily in - replaying the record.
---> The solenoid pin and trip lever ONLY get hung up when the Cam rotates from Play to Scan - Never when rotating from Scan to Play.
---> It appears that perhaps the Solenoid is being energized for that moment. Sometimes, if I try to push the Trip Lever into the SCAN notch on the Cam, I get a chattering and it appears the Solenoid is still energized when it shouldn't be.
---> Eventually, the Trip Lever will fall into the SCAN notch and start playing, scanning, playing, scanning as normal until the machine sits again for a few minutes. Then selecting a song will lead to this crazy behaviour.
This is what I have done so far:
I've gone through manual time and again and can't figure out how or why the Solenoid would be energizing either momentarily or longer preventing the Trip Lever to drop into the SCAN notch. Also, again this only happens after sitting.
I added a link to a short video of the problem from the back of the mech - Just as the safety plunger returns you can see the Trip Lever only slightly fall into the Scan notch and the Cam continues until the Trip Lever falls into the PLAY spot. Here is the link: photos.app.goo.gl/ZVXHyXuAHf2gK9ks7
I'm going crazy and about to throw the juke out the window
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is what I have done so far:
- Cleaned and lubed all pivot points, cams, clutches and safety plunger parts
- Removed and cleaned the solenoid sleeve and pin. Lubed all pivot parts associated with the solenoid. Tightened up the pull (return) spring on the Trip Lever.
- Adjusted blades in the Cam switch stack. My switch stack has fewer blades than the switch stack in the manual so it makes it hard to tell if I'm working on the right blades.
- Trip switch at the tonearm tests ok - I short that switch while playing a record to trip the mechanism instead of moving the tonearm.
I've gone through manual time and again and can't figure out how or why the Solenoid would be energizing either momentarily or longer preventing the Trip Lever to drop into the SCAN notch. Also, again this only happens after sitting.
