SMC1 scanning issue

I'm working on getting my SMC1 up and running after about 6 years of inactivity, and I am having a problem when a record is finished playing. The mech returns the record correctly to the magazine, but then has trouble scanning. It looks like the clutch is not dropping down properly and not engaging the sprocket drive pin correctly. I have to 'give it a little nudge' to get the mech to scan. It ONLY does this when scanning from left to right. Scanning the other direction works with no problem. If I press the 'scan' switch on the service switch assembly it scans perfectly in both directions.
Note - I just installed a Gen 2 MCU in the jukebox, but it had the same issue before.
Does this sound like a lube issue, or is it something deeper?

Actually, it looks like this post pretty much addresses my problem. Guess it's time to learn how to remove the clutch.

Thanks to some help (a lot) from MOPARJOE, the problem is solved. He suggested doing the clutch 1 adjustment, and that did the trick.
