To set tracking you will need a tracking gauge, If you look at the jukebox world website, you can search for tracking force gauge, this will show you what you need. The needle you purchased should have came with recommended tracking force. Use the gauge as per service manual to confirm the tracking is correct. pete

I have a gram force gage just the illustrations don't sufficiently show the location of the parts involved such as the counterweight knob for instance.
Thanks

Ive never seen your model, but i have 6 Seeburg models from 1952 to 1970 and they all work about the same way, so im assuming yours is the same. If you take off the cover that is above the turntable you should see the complete tone arm, on each side you will see a spring, one spring is for left side the other for right. If this is what you see, you need to select a record, i ussualy put an old one in about the center of the carriage, then select the A side of that record, use the scan/service switch to stop the mechanism or better yet turn off the unit . The arm and the needle will be over the start of the record, use your gauge to try and lift off the needle by inserting the gauge on the cartridge as close to the needle as possible, take the reading, if its off you will see at the bottom of the spring a plate with a screw, this can be adjusted to increase or decrease unless it is already at the limit. If the tracking pressure is to great for the needles listed recommended tracking, you can either buy new springs or i sometimes stretch the spring abit, this is delicate so only do it if you feel confident, Redo the same process for the B side. pete /

Someone can correct me if i am wrong but there is no counter weight, there are adjustments at the base of the tonearm but they are for record landing and cutoff. I have attached a photo of a standard tonearm and needles, if you have a Seeburg STD 3 it should look similar. pete

On mine (LU-1 library unit) there is a counterweight. Since it is similar to other units mechanically, I will assume other units have counterweights also. The counterweight is beneath the tonearm base (you can't see it in prime/Pete's pic). You stick your fingers in below the base and you can feel it and adjust it. If you have the mech or tonearm assembly out, you can view it from the bottom. You should adjust it per the manual for your unit.

Thank You All For your input. It all helps. I will explore the balance/counterbalance further and update this when I find something.
Best Regards and God Bless Ron,
