Hi all, I am new here. I have a long history of restorations of radios & audio equipment, but this is my first time with a jukebox. This is a family heirloom which was lost for a very long time but has resurfaced. I have been tasked as being its caretaker. The unit was partially disassembled for repair by someone, then put into storage for a long time, and only recently re-discovered. The history of the mechanical issue is long forgotten but it would appear to be with the gripper, as that's what was apart. After looking through the service manual and many online photos of the gripper assembly, it would appear that I have two issues. One is that the inner shoe assembly appears to be broken off. The other is that the gripper arm seems to hang with far too much resistance when moving up & down. Could anyone guide me to where I could find a model 500 inner shoe assembly & how to best handle this resistance issue with the arm's vertical channel? The forum will not allow me to attach photos, it says the "forum has exceeded its attachment limit"...

Hi Astro, Check the FAQs for how to deal with pictures. It would also be useful if you updated your profile so that we knew your location!

I have been digging through more information online and from the diagram which I just added to my collection, it looks like the piece of metal from the last photo in my lineup is supposed to go over the square area on this inner shoe. I separated the pieces of my mechanism and the square pin moves pretty hard. From this diagram (if it's the right diagram) it looks like this loose piece of metal is part of a pot metal tube that has a spring behind it? That makes a lot of sense.

Update: I was right, the insides were seized up. I got the middle piece out with some lubrication & brute force but it fits too tight to work properly. Can I buy a new shoe & piston or should I look into 3D printing something? albumizr.com/a/g5dO

I am confused. Are we are talking about AMI model B gripper? The gripper housing assembly showing with the grafic is being used in a 4xx Rock-Ola palying 45s from 1960s or 1970s.

Yes, okay that could explain why a couple things don't line up. Does anyone have a graphic for the model b gripper? It turns out that I have more parts than I thought. I think I am going to try to do a 3D print replica.
