So I took the mech apart and meticulously cleaned it. I took pictures at every step so I could easily put back together. Upon the final hose down rinse in my driveway I found these two parts. I think I solved where the magnet goes but I can't find anything showing me what seems to be a bushing. It's not in any of my pictures, I don't see it any of the guides or manuals. Is this just something that dropped in the top of the mech from somewhere else? I found several small wood screws in the gummed up grease and oil in the top gears of the mech so that wouldn't surprise me. Attachments:

Stephen, OK--on the magnet--as I guess you found out-it operates the record trip switch -- Just guessing on that round item--Is it made of a white material ? If so, my guess is it's one of the rollers the program holder door is supposed to ride on ? Ron Rich

I’ll check that out. It’s an aluminum piece that has no scratches or wear marks on it. It looks like a bushin or spacer but I’ll check the rollers and see.

On my USC1, there is a spacer about the same size as what is in your picture, there is a Philips head screw that holds the wire bundle for the mech that runs under the base located on the left hand side front, there should be a metal clip on the wire bundle...anyway the spacer went between the base and the clip (screw goes through base, then spacer, then into clip on bundle). If you don't have the spacer there you get contact between the moving mech and the wire attachment point...ask me how I know.
If you removed the screw holding the wire bundle to the base, you might not have noticed the spacer fall down, especially since you can't see it as installed. I'm guessing the construction between the USC1 and USC2 models is similar in this area...
It's also possible that part could be something from "up top" that fell down during service at some point "never to be found again..."
Good luck with your project.

That has to be it. I've gone over every note and manual I have and haven't seen it. Now that I have that solved I need to find out why after putting it all back together I get no selections played.
