R86 Strange start up problems

Hi,

Any help here would be welcomed.

The box when first plugged in had started moving the carousel around, stopping at various random records, picking them up, placing then on the turntable, moving the needle onto the vinyl and then taking it off without playing it and moving into another one.. Sometimes it picks the same record up several times.

When I put the machine into service mode nothing happens and I can't move the carousel by using the usual black button.

It repeats this for about 5 mins, then it decides that all is good and normal and it runs perfectly.

If I turn off the box and turn it on later in the day is starts perfectly and is ready to go, but if I leave it a day or two it all starts again.

Any ideas of what this could be or where to start would be welcome.

Hi Matt,
There's a "sticky" above on common Rowe problems. Also, might it be a battery problem? There are a few threads you might trawl through that might help you. I don't have much involvement with these machines so really can't help much.

Next time you turn it on after being off for a day press the memory clear, if it stops playing random records then could be ram problem. If battery is low or bad that could cause problems. Change battery if you haven't.
