Hello,
Working on a Wurlitzer 412 for the first time. Rebuilt amp, replaced wiring, cleaned coin slides and contacts. Having never done one of these before, everything looks correct. The issue I am having is whether a coin has been deposited or not, the motor turns all the time when line switch is on. The only way I can momentarily stop the motor is by depressing the motor reset button on the junction block that breaks the contact points momentarily.
Can someone explain to me the sequence of actions that are supposed to take place after making selection and depositing the coin? The documentation from the manual I have is lacking the details. My guess is that the gears in the back of the coin slide engage the magazine to close an otherwise open connection to the motor and lights that engages the motor to rotate to the pin selected, rotate platter with correct record, and engage turntable. Again, my issue is the motor runs nonstop regardless.
I wish we could upload pictures again to this site, would make this description easier...As to the motor reset switch in the junction box, since it is foreign to me, I am trying to understand the purpose of the small barrel component with ridges laying horizontally on the switch in the junction box. Looks to be connecting both sides of the switch with 110v via a copper switch with a point contact on it. Should this barrel spin? It looks like it should in a ratchet type fashion. This one does not turn. It just seems like an overkill way to connect both sides of a switch when there is already a point contact inline. The barrel also has a small wire coil running through the middle of it to?? Made me think perhaps a magnetic coil or choke but that makes no sense since the switch with the points is copper.
Anyway, it is a mystery to me right now. Just hoping that one of you out there has the knowledge of these mid 30s era Wurlitzers and can get me pointed in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
Rudy
