This is a new series on the Yesterday channel in the UK. Tuesday 9.00 pm. will be the third episode. They will be restoring a jukebox. As a programme it's not quite as dumbed down as the BBC's "The Repair Shop." No tear-jerking moments or dramatic "reveals." They've got more "emotional" with every new series.
But this new show has to be dumbed down a bit to attract a wide enough audience to earn its place in the schedules.
Jukebox repairs on "The Repair Shop" probably meant discarding interesting video footage, to concentrate on seeing things like "the chrome being polished, etc." They've done about three and I wasn't impressed with the sound of any of them.
I hope this will be more interesting.

In Tuesday's episode, Shamil, "the resident buffoon," drove a long way to a barn where someone had a large number of old jukeboxes and pinball machines stored.
There were a few reasonably looking ones but he settled on a 1973 Seeburg SL100 Carnival
It was in a terrible state, possibly stored in that damp barn for decades, the interior was "hanging" and the chrome on the case was flaking off. I couldn't believe they paid £850 for it. I could see it was well beyond economical repair.
They could have bought a repairable machine on eBay for less money.
What they did with it was a complete nonsense. They ripped the entire works out of it and made it into an mp3 player with flashing lights. They had the chrome of the curved back sandblasted off and powder coated! They retained the selection button bank as a "feature" that did nothing.
To then price it at £1500 was a joke. But with the sandblasting and other bits of kit they'd be much more than £1000 into it. Hadn't sold after a year. I'm not surprised.
This programme series started off pretty well, two weeks ago, but the visit to a transport museum this week to fix the windscreen wiper on a 1962 bus was hardly "riveting telly." I can't see this programme getting a second series.
They've already fixed one of those "cat clocks" on The Repair Shop.
They could dispense with Shamil and his dad for what contribution they make, but the producers probably think viewers like them.

I was intending to watch that episode but haven't done so yet; it does look like it's going to be classed as an hour of my life wasted!
