Hi, I have a Rowe/Ami MM2 from 1968/1969. It works great outside of one nagging issue. If I select any top row letter and number combination it works as exactly as expected( I.e. Q0, E9, etc). The issue comes when I select the bottom letter associated with each number. Instead of playing the selection it plays the same number but advanced one letter. For example if I select P0 it will always play R0, F9 will always play H9, etc I’ve read through the manual and from what I can tell it may be centered around the search unit select coil arm assembly needing adjustment or the stop switch adjustment. Does this sound correct? Or is there another adjustment that is targeted toward the bottom letter associated with each number.
thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
what does "top row" and "bottom" mean? If I know right MM-2 has letters and number pushbuttons in two sections but in the same row. Or is is the upper and lower row of the titleholders?

Hi, let me try to be more specific. I was referring to the top and bottom rows on the title card of each record. So, for instance the a(top) and b(bottom) side of one record are L0 and M0. When I select L0 or any other aside of a record it plays the correct selection. However if I select M0 it will always play P0. P0 will always play R0 and so forth. So thinking about this more as I type this….. A,C,E,G,J,L,N,Q,S,U + any number all play the correct selection. Whereas B,D,F,H,K,M,P,R,T,V all are off by one letter. Selecting B and an any number plays D and that number , D plays F etc.
Hope this helps.
Thanks! Mike

Hi Mike, First, I think you probably need to check that the correct B side pin in the search unit is being pushed (I suspect that it will be)! Then you need to check the stopping switch adjustments as per the manual. Be aware that the stop screws (for example) are factory set and shouldn't be touched - not that this stops some tinkerers!

Ok so I checked and the correct pin is in fact being selected. I can watch the inner ring stop switch come around and hit the selected pin. It then plays, and the annunciator shows, 1 selection later. So this leads me to think that the at the stop switch is hitting the pin too late. Does this sound logical?

Happy to report a slight adjustment on the inner ring stop switch has solved the problem! Inner and outer rings now both play the correct selection!
Thanks for your help in giving me an idea where to look to find the issue!
