How would one go about adding a few wall speakers to a shp1 amplifier? Is it possiable to add speakers that are not seeburg? And if so what ohms would they have to be ?

The reason I'm asking is it's very hard to find seeburg speakers and if you do find some they cost a fortune.

Grizzled one, you can use any speaker you like, but some points: -If you are using standard 4-8-16 ohm speakers connected to the wattage taps on the amp, bear in-mind that you'll be connecting to an amp that rates the watts into a 5 ohm load. -If using 8 ohm speakers the watts will be approx half that claimed by the individual taps. 16 Ohm loads will be a 1/4th of that rating. -Actual power delivered by the amp is NOT "100 w/ch" -it is actually more like 32-35 w/ch with both channels driven. --Use efficient speakers-- if you want loud levels. - Avoid over loading the amp. Calculate the total loads taking into account both machine speakers and the load represented by the externals. -Additionally, the amp should be biased low so that it idles cool at the heatsinks and the main fuse should be no more than 2amp/slow (I use use 1-1/2 amp). There is no such thing as "Seeburg speakers"--Seeburg purchased speakers (either made to Seeburg's specs. , or that match them), from various makers, and installed them into cabinets, which carried the Seeburg name/logo on them. The addition of speakers is explained very well in the "Installation and Operation" (I & O)manual that came with every model phono--read it ! Ron Rich
