2710 question on Latch Solenoid

In the manual for the 2700-2710 on page 7, photo 13 - it shows the Latch Solenoid.  Directly to the left in the photo is a small black switch.  I cannot find any reference to what this is and it does not seem to have any effect when I move it.  What is this switch for?

That seems to be the 'Free Play Slide Switch'

If you slide the switch, it will establish a credit if none exists.
