I have an a problem with the selections. It happens almost every second time. It doesn't go to the right letters or numbers. The key pad has been checked so it's something in the selection unit. Thanks Danny

Hi Danny,
Is there a pattern which number/letter gets taken instead of those you selected? E.g. Instead of letter A letter B comes always. Or if I select E1 selection E2 gets taken. Did the problem occur suddenly? Was anything done to the jukebox before the problem showed up? When did it play troublefree the last time? Do you have the manual on hand? What kind of experiences do you have with jukeboxes?
In general it's best to give as many information as possible. It helps others to understand the problem better.

It is totally random. You can push the same number in and get two different selections. It was brought to our shop to get fixed. So not sure how long it has been this way. We have the manual but not really narrowing into the problem we have. As far as experience, 43 years doing Rock-ola and Wurlitzer and have only tackled about 30-40 AMIs

I wonder whether the wiper(s) in the pulse generator are broken, mis-adjusted and/or if the circuits where the wipers slide on are dirty. Otherwiese I hope somebody else might have an idea.

Hi Danny, You're going to have to narrow down the problem quite a lot! Start by looking at the pulses from the pulse generator. I'll attach a picture of a wallbox tester you can use which you can attach at the wallbox terminals (the pulse generator is just like a wallbox). If the pulses are OK, look at the pulse converter (stepper) and physically check that the step solenoids are incrementing without slipping and match the pulses from the generator. From there, you're looking at writing the selection but I think it's less likely that the problem is there if a selection is made. There's an additional pulse on the letter pulse train, if my memory is correct - so for E9 for example, there would be 6 pulses, short gap then 9 pulses. Norman.
