I have a 1976 Rowe R-80 juke box that I have refurbished and acquired a Rowe WRA Wallette Box that I am trying to hook up. I have connected the 12 position terminal block in the Wallette unit to the back panel connections on the juke box but am getting no reaction al all at the Wallette. Does anyone know if I need a stepper unit as well as the straight hook up cable or what I may be doing wrong here? I have tested the connections at the Wallette side and at the R-80 side and am getting very low AC voltages (2 to 3 volts) so I am thinking that the power supply wires are not connected properly at the juke box side. Any direction would be appreciated.

Yes you need a stepper, model CGA.

Thanks Norman. Do you know how the Stepper unit hooks up? The only connections in the Wall Box go straight to the Juke Box from what I see.

There are pictures of the stepper here www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/AMI/AMI_CGA.htm The comb from the search unit has to be plugged into the stepper and the stepper comb then goes to the serach unit. There's another plug on the stepper for AC, ground and signal which must connect somewhere, I'm sure you'll find where! Norman

Thanks again Norman. Do you know off hand if the AC power is 30, 110 or other volt? the label is covered up.

I would guess that the AC power would be 25V which is typical in wallbox/stepper circuits. I do very little with machines like the R80 so I can't claim any familiarity and I don't have any info on the CGA stepper. Looking back at your initial post, I'm a bit surprised that you didn't find 25VAC - did you measure wrt ground? Looking at the cable on the stepper, the signal from the wallbox must go via the power supply. Can you post a picture of the power supply (you can use postimages).
Norman.

The penny is dropping. It looks like the power supply for the Wall Box is a feedback loop from the stepper (when the card edge connector from the search unit is plugged in). I believe I have a CGA stepper so I will just need to verify the power supply voltage for the three conductor cable coming out of it. I believe that the three wires (black, white and green are hot or signal (black), neutral (white) and ground (green). I will verify that and take a pic of the unit. Sorry but I am new to forums in general and can't figure out how to post an image. I tried clicking on the Insert Image Icon but that just asks for an url so I am not sure of what to put there as the image would be on my computer, not on the internet. I will work on that, thanks for your patience...Ron

What I have found is that the CGA Stepper unit connects to a PL-10A power supply and the selector unit connects to the stepper unit then, through the stepper unit to the Wall Box (through the 12 conductor cable and back to the Juke Box stepper unit through the card edge connector. Complicated for sure but simple enough. It turns out that the stepper unit I have is a CGC Unit (which I am sure I can convert to a CGA Stepper unit)and I was able to acquire a PL-10A Power Supply (not working but repairable). Still requires some work but it looks doable. Thanks for your help and advice.
