Rockola 494 Bottom Speakers

How can I access the bottom speakers? I have removed the for screws on the silver bar at the top and tried to open the bottom speaker section by pivoting it out like indicated by the manual but it only moves about an inch. I thought there was hinge on the bottom like it says in the parts book. Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a long time since I've opened up a 490 series, but you are correct... The bottom of speaker baffle assembly does have hinge plates, but I don't remember how to release it!
