Wurlitzer 1100 always selects Number 23

Hi All,

My Wurlitzer 1100 has developed a minor issue.

It always selects #23.
If I deposit a coin, make 2 selections, it will play the 2 songs I chose, plus number 23.

Any advise where I need to start checking?

I looked at the coils behind the rotary selector, and they appear to be set correctly, I assume someting in the selector keys?

As an update,

Anytime I select any song, the #23 coil activates, even if no coin has been deposited.

I am assuming a shorted wire behind the #23 selector buttons.

Maybe the selection #23 hasn't been reset (cancelled) right. Then it stays active and gets played agaian and again.

Thanks for your response.

I checked the selector coil and it does reset after each time #23 is played.

I think I will remove the selector keys and try to ascertain what is happing inside them.
It appears to be electrical.

Problem solved!

There was a small split in the cotton wrapping on a wire behind the selectors (I expect it was #23).
I assume the wire was shorting to the chasis.

Easily fixed once I found it.
