Hello All,
I have an MM2-CD and I want to place it someplace where the on/off switch will be inaccessible. I don't want to just wire the outlet to switch on/off, because that couple hurt the amp. Is there some common solution to this problem?
Thanks for any help.

Why do you think a switched outlet will damage the amp?

I read somewhere that the amp remains powered even if the main switch is off. That's why you might hear the amp pop a little when plugging and unplugging the unit. In my case, the unit would be turned on and off every day, potentially mulliple times each day. I wouldn't want to risk damaging the amp.
So I disassembled the power supply and put extended leads onto the switch. Now my switch is 50 feet from the jukebox. I did a real slick job, actually. Too bad this forum won't let me attach a photo for some reason.

True, the amp stays powered up when the main switch is off, but that is to support background music systems.
After repairing dozens of amps that have failed because they are powered on all the time, I plug every amp into the Service outlet so it doesn't remain powered up 24 hours a day... 365 days a year. That's saved many amplifiers.
I'm not alone, there are many threads all over the internet that say leaving the amp on 24/7 is bad for the amp. Switching the amp to the Service outlet is a common service man's trick.

Well I wish I'd know that before doing all that work, haha.

By "Service outlet", do you mean the outlet just to the left of the dedicated amp outlet on the power supply?
So even in my case, where my unit will be placed in a bar and turned on and off multiple times per day (for instance when live music will be starting and stopping), even then you would recommend powering the amp up and down?
If that is the case, would be be prudent to turn the volume all the way down before turning the unit on or off?
Thanks for any help, Michael

Yes, the outlet next to the amp outlet. It should be marked.
I know the 'pop' when the amp powers up is disconcerting, but I've never heard of an instance when this has damaged the sound system.

Amazing. Thank you for your helpful input.
This jukebox has been a real journey for me. I purchased it from someone who purported to know all about these things and promised to help me with any eventualities. It didn't even survive the journey home. The seller "helped" by referring me to a technician 3 states away and blocking my number. Quality fellow.
That said, I'm no slouch when it come to fixing things. I essentially had to learn as much as an apprentice jukebox tech, disassemble the entire thing, find the problem and sort it out.
Very happy with the machine now. It's a beauty and it sounds great. Wish I could post a photo or video.
