free play on continental 2

hello on my frustrating quest to get the machine working right I thought putting it on free play may eliminate sone steps but can`t find how to do this I checked faq section but didnt understand the info there.

Disable the subtract (or cancel) solenoid in the credit unit by cutting one of its wires - credit will then never be removed. If you fit a switch there, you can flip between "free" and "coin" as you please.
