Hi all!
I’m curious of the best way to clean caked on dirt/dust from the inside of a jukebox. What is an okay cleaner to use?
I was thinking of using a safe cleaner on a paper towel and then using that to wipe the surfaces clean. Would that be okay?
Mine has a thick layer of dirt that comes off when I wipe surfaces with my fingertips. I was thinking of using a keyboard vacuum to try and clean it but I don’t think it will work since the dirt isn’t really loose. I don’t want to use compressed air and blow the dirt into places I don’t want it.
Or is it best to just leave it be?
Thanks, Mat

Sometimes I use a light mist of cleaner then remove with a damp cloth.
Other times I've removed everything from the cabinet that would be subject to water damage then sprayed it with cleaner, brushed it down, then hosed it off!
I've used many cleaning products throughout the years including Purple Power, and S-100 (motorcycle cleaner), but now I've been using Simple Green's Pro HD (it's also purple in color).
Just don't open a can of worms!

I’ll use a soft cloth and the Simple Green cleaner you mentioned and go from there. I don’t need it perfectly clean and shiny, but just want it cleaner than it is now. I also don’t want to use a cleaner that would end up removing any of the lettering on the junction box or anything else that I might have a need for later for identification purposes. :-) Thanks again!

Just be warned, Purple Power has the habit of removing some paints and lettering.

Just be warned, Purple Power has the habit of removing same paints and lettering. Thank you kindly for the warning. I appreciate it.

In general I suggest to test each cleaner in advance. Sometimes even water seems to be almost too much and rinses a lettering away ....

All I can do is try. If I have to, I'll replace the writing (I'll take pictures before trying to clean anything) with decals that have the names on them. Better than forgetting years down the road what it originally said. I did buy the Simple Green Pro HD that Marty suggested. It worked really well on my wheels on my race car. LOL!! I'll see how it fairs on cleaning the jukebox. But I'll worry about that AFTER I, hopefully, get it working. Thank you for your input. Take care, Mat
