regis 1488 mute switch question

  I have a regis 1488 with a stereo amplifier and there is weak sound from one channel

  I`m going to change out the old original cartridge but would like to check the mute switch but not 
sure where it is,hopefully not inside the amp or is that easy to check?  thought a shot of deoxit may help.

I'm not clear what you are trying to achieve here? The mute relay is within the amplier and when the amp is in use, the relay is de-energised and its contacts open, Do you think the contacts aren't opening?
