I have a Rock-ola 469. Problem with song selection what I’ve found is that after choosing the the three digits for a song, nothing happens, unless I push the latch solenoid lever towards the back of the machine while choosing the third digit. If I hold the lever back, the write in process occurs correctly. I think the latch solenoid has gone bad. Am I correct?

It's possible that the latch solenoid is bad but much more likely I think to be a contact problem with the swich that energises the solenoid when the button making the second digit selection is released. This is clearly shown in the manual, I hope you have one! If not, there's your incentive!

Got the manual and it’s been an education! Very helpful but still stuck. It looks like the lock bar switch is open in its “resting” position. Should it be closed?
Manual says that after choosing second digit, the lock bar solenoid should be energized. Does that mean it should have moved to close its own holding circuit?

It says in the manual that the lockbar switch is normally closed - this would mean that when the buttons are released it would move from open to closed. And that should energise the solenoid.
