Recently purchased a Rockola 494-2 and initially it would go through the process of rotating the basket to the correct record and do nothing more. Ended up finding that the noise suppression cap on the gripper motor was shorted. Decided to remove the mechanism and go through disassembling the gripper and doing an overall cleaning of the mech. Question I have is, without the mech in place, is it typical that the system controller gets "stuck" with the initializing LED on? Was working before and wondered if part of the boot routine is to check for the mech/encoder board or something along those lines.
Updated:
Problem was with an intermittent connection on the power/mech edge connector going to the controller. Everything back to normal, also - the mech does not need to be in place for the controller to boot and run.
