Hi All,
My Continental has broken it's Scan Control Belt.
Do I need to remove the entire mechanism to gain access to the lower pulley?
It appears I should be able to loosen the 2 clamps near the lower pulley to enable inserting the new belt.
But how do I access this area, I have no room for my arms or hands.
Has anyone found an easier way?
Cheers Gordon..

You can remove the search unit to gain more access. It's pretty easy to do, just two large hex head bolts hold it to the mechanism. There is a wire harness with a bunch of connectors, but you may be able to leave those connected and push the unit to one side.
You will probably need to pull out the popularity meter's 'gear and pinion drive shaft' (and maybe the entire popularity meter assembly) once the rubber shaft coupling is loosened, so you can slip the new belt in place.
