Greeting AMI/Rowe fans....quick question. I know I can buy a vintage AMI remote (volume and cancel) for my JAL-200, but I really just want to mount a single cancel button inside the cabinet so I don't have to go reaching back behind the whole unit against the wall. Is there any reason I can't do that?
If it is possible, what/where are the connections? I have been looking all over the place for wiring instructions for the "official" AMI remote, but can't find anything on what needs to be disconnected and where I can drop the new cables from the main cabinet. I don't think I can just drag wires down to the volume/cancel box on the back panel and replace the connections at the terminal there, can I? Looking at the current connections and the schematic, I think that the box on the back panel has a bunch of cross connects to the mute and volume controls as well and I really don't want to mess all of that up.
Thanks for any insights and thoughts you might have.
-David

Hi David, Yes quite easy - connect one end of your new switch to ground (any bare metalwork) and take a single wire to the reject switch at the back and piggy back it to the existing connection. It'll only work on one side so you can find the correct connection by simple trial and error. Altenatively, piggy back to the record reject switch at the tone arm, same procedure.
