Hello there was a brass clip on the tonearm on my Regis 1488 and I somehow lost the brass clip. Can I attach a cartridge without the clip or if not is there an alternative? Thanks

I don't know how you would attach the cartridge without the small bracket. Plastic versions can be found, there are at least a couple of sellers on ebay in the UK have these but I couldn't see any on ebay.com other than from China and expensive. You could search through places selling vintage phono equipment for "phono cartridge 1/2" headshell adapter mount" or something along these lines.

Doesn't each cartridge come with it's own holder?
The original cartridge on Regis was the Astatic 15D. If you still have this, I think you would need to find a clip which fits Astatic 15D.
Maybe somebody has replaced the Astatic in his Rock-Ola (Astatic 15D was used up to model 445) and kept the brass holder. That's what you should look for.

Hi Hildegard, I understand that he lost the original mounting holder. I'm fairly sure that the Astatic 15D and many other phono cartridges use the same size standard holder eg the Shure M75 that Deutsche Wurlitzer used and lots of crystal cartridges that were used in old record players like Dansette. Some time ago, I bought some cheap Chuo Denshi clone ceramic cartridges to experiment with. They duly arrived from China with no holders but going through my spare cartridges, I discovered that the mount was the same as many other cartridges I had. The plastic mounts that I got from UK ebay cost nearly three times that of the Chinese cartridges!

I checked if by any chance the P-132D holder would fit - it doesn't though it look very close. So I took a photo of an original Astatic one in case it is helpful to find one. @ continental55: Make sure it is indeed the Astatic 15d cartridge in your Regis.
Of course it could have been swapped at any time for any reasons. Hildegard
