Does anyone have any recommendations for painting a record rack and mech base? Mine is the wrong color and flaking in places. Do I need to remove the mech from the base in order to paint it?

I've seen some pretty poor paint jobs on mechanisms!
Whenever I repaint, I disassemble the mechanism so I can sand, mask and paint the individual parts.
It's a considerable amount of work, but the results are much better.

I had a feeling you were going to say that! This will be my first disassembly of a mechanism from the base and rack so it'll certainly be a learning experience!
