The key for my 201 finally arrived and I got her opened up today. I can see a few tubes are missing, in particular the 6BJ6 and the 2050. It looks like things got a little warm around the 2050. So my first instinct is to just recap everything, amp and receiver and go from there. Anything I should check to make sure I'm not wasting my time on a lost cause?

The 2050 tube in at V504 is for stepper operation only. It is not required for normal operation.
The 6BJ6 in the amp is for the AVC circuit. The amp will make plenty of sound without this tube, it just won't have any Automatic Volume Control.
I think re-capping the units is a good choice; I's not likely that either chassis is a 'lost cause' unless a tranformer is fried... but that's somewhat unlikely.
You could always test the transformers prior to re-capping, but I'd take proper precautions... such as using a 'dim bulb' tester.
