hi the machine has only had to play 45 rpm big hole records and the centre spindle automatically popped up
but it quit so i propped the spindle up but would like to fix it,
any ideas what it could be or what to check?

The diagram is in the manual - two switches and two solenoids in total.

Ok so if I check the switches and solenoids that’s where the issue would likely be?

Yes, one solenoid moves the speed shifter, the other moves the hub.

Why don't you consult the diagram? The hub switch, if faulty, will stop it all working as would a broken wire form the side of the solenoids which is commoned? It's not particularly complicated!
