Hello, newbie, just bought an R83 (100 bucks) and it powers up and actually works (it will play a record and return it) but that's all it does, the same record over and over. It will do a scan (rotate). Where do I start looking for issues? The selection board works but slow to take numbers. All coin operation has been removed. I can post pictures if needed..Someone installed the stylis backward on tone arm, but I restored it and sounds great.

Hi Texas,
welcome to the world of jukeboxes. Did you get a service manual with the jukebox? and can you work with schematics etc.?
It sounds like the selection which gets played over and over again does not get cancelled. So after the rotation it gets "found" again and played again. This will continue until the selection gets cancelled. Model R83 uses already a memory chip to store selections if I know right. So the problem might be an electronical one which I cannot be of help.
Rowe did mount the tonearm on left side of the turntable. Hence the cartridge is mounted "backwards" so that the stylus is in play direction again. It looks odd but is like it has to be.

Have you searched the forum? I'm sure that I recall similar issues having been covered.

after the record has played, it returns it, waits a few seconds, and plays it again, no rotation, however if you turn it off with the record returned, and do a scan it will turn. All the money boxes have been removed, and I have a few plugs in that area that are not connected to anything. Just want it to take a selection and I can deal with all the other issues. Volume is slow to change, sounds tinny, but by golly loving all the records that came with it. LOL Is there supposed to be a light to scan that I need to look for, or would it be better to send the boards in to get checked?

Ok, so I still guess the selections do not get cancelled after being played. Hence it gets repeated again and again. The question is why they do not get cancelled after being played. All in all it sounds to me that either somebody with knowledge has to do a look into your jukebox - or you can deal with a manual and schematics and work yourself through that - maybe with some help here. To be honest, besides this I am not sure if helpful answers are possible - for sure not from me being a non-technician. If there are loose plugs, coin unit removed - who knows what else has been done to the R83 somewhen in the past. If you want to show photos, you will need to use an extarenal photo hoster.
