Hi,tx for welcoming me as a new member. I'm working on a rock-ola 418S and only the machine speakers are working, according the manual this is normal when you put the power switch position on 36 Watt. This 418S is equipped with a speaker box 39400-A on top .Now there is an option to put the power switch position to 24 or 16 Watt depending on if you have 1 pair or 2 pair 16 Ohm or 70V speakers.
But the extra speakerbox contains 3 speakers on each site, not exactly a pair?
Can i switch the power switch to 24 or 16 Watt without damaging the amplifier? What is the correct pad forward?
appriciate if someone could assist me,Tx

If you're only going to be using the speakers within the jukebox, set the power switch to maximum - don't worry, you won't damage the amplifier. Looking at the schematic, I cannot see that the upper speakers are switched out at all but there is a plug and socket where they can be unplugged. Alternatively the upper speakers might be turned right down on their L-pad. The three speakers on each side are wired in series so you do have a pair - three on one side and three on the other!
In my opinion, it's an over-complicated set-up, the L-pads are there to balance the sound. The last one of these that I repaired, the L-pad for the upper speakers was missing so full power was going to the upper speakers (of course there is an overall volume control so it is only full power if that is set to maximum) and the sound balance was wrong - too much sound from the upper speakers. So I rewired it so that full power went to the 12" speakers and the L-pad adjusted the upper speakers and that was perfectly OK because only the jukebox speakers were being used.
Does that answer your questions?
Norman.

Thanks Norman, i fully understand your answer. I'm going to put the power switch in the 24 Watt position and i have to check the circuit of the upper speakers first. Then i'm going to make some balance between the machine speakers and the upper speakers with the Lpad . Marco
