I can't see how the gears have become un-sychronised by just removing the motor? There's a lot of info already on the forum that should help you. Do you have a manual? And parts list? There's a breakdown diagram of the gripper motor in the parts list. Who knows why it was removed but it could be as simple as the carbon brushes are worn. You're possibly likely to encounter more complex issues than servicing the motor before you're finished! So don't let it frighten you!

The manual and parts list will help identify any parts you wish to refer to. I thought you said it was the gripper motor gearbox that you stripped and cleaned (I trust you applied fresh grease?); did you also strip the gripper assembly? It shouldn't un-synchronise otherwise. Limit switches stop the gripper motor at each extremity of its travel.
