A little history...
I acquired this juke box about a month ago, it used to do the two scans and then nothing.
I rebuilt the amp and receiver and replaced the tubes. After that the mech would scan to the correct record, load it, then immediately reject it and keep "playing" an empty mech.
The clutch was really gummed up as was the rest of the mech so I took everything apart and gave it all a good cleaning, lubed everything, and reset all the adjustments in the manual.
When I started it up after that, it scanned most of the way to the right (stopped around M0). I manually scanned the mech to a record. Now when I make a selection, it just loads and plays the record wherever it is. No matter what selection I make it does not scan, just plays the record at that spot, rejects it at the end, loads it and plays it again. Selection buttons reset as they should. The clutch mech seems to be functioning fine as I can get it to scan manually with no problem.
I checked the troubleshooting sections. Best I could find was an improperly seated memory unit plug. I reset those plugs and no change. Not sure where to go from here.
PS-The scan lever does not move the mech either. I can hear a click from the receiver when I press it, but no scan.
Edit-Upon closer inspection I saw this broken wire on the J510 plug from the Tormat. I am guessing the red wire should be soldered to the outer barrel? That led me to the Tormat unit where I realized that there was continuity between all of the rivets and the ground. Sounds like a short to me but I'm not sure. This happens with the Tormat unit unplugged and the plunger pins isolated from the Tormat. So if there is a short, it must be inside the Tormat memory unit?
