I have had a Seeburg SS-160 jukebox for about 15 years. Traditionally, the one thing that goes wrong is the Seeburg's ability to play 45 rpm records. I had a jukebox technician rebuild the auto-speed unit via specs from Victory Glass, and I, unfortunately, didn't carry the whole jukebox to him (he's 3.5 hours away from me). I guess I thought I would be able to "plug and play" the SS-160 and it magically play 45's again. When I plugged it in last night, I noticed it hesitated when it reached a 45 (usually made a noise) and then it started playing a 45. I was able to adjust the auto-speed unit to get it to play the right speed and it played several 45s with no problem. It reached one 45 and the motor stopped. I was able to turn the jukebox from non-operation mode to scan and operate mode and it played the 45. I think I smelled a little burning. From looking at what Victory Glass provided my technician, the original problem was likely the IA1, IA3, or IA11 not closing properly. How do I get them to "close properly?" My original jukebox technician had closed the power relay contacts together, but my latest technician had opened them up. Is that the problem? If so, how do I get them to close properly when the motor plays a 45? I am also guessing that I burned up a transistor or capacitor (I'm guessing that's what they call them) that runs the motor? Why else did I smell a little smoke? Since it did last play a 45, is too late to try and get the power relay to close when playing a 45?
