Hello, this is going to be a long one but I've stumbled across many issues so I'll do my best to explain them is detail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just recently picked up a Seeburg model LPC-1b and I've struggled to figure out how to get this machine in functioning order.
*Coin Slot Issue*
One of the first things I noticed was that there was some circular disk in the coin slot preventing a coin from being deposited. I figured that it must've been modified to be free play but once I looked into the machine, I noticed a linkage to a small steel paddle that pivots onto what looks like a small electromagnet. I don't understand what that does or how to put a credit into the machine.
*Selection Problem*
One of my other problems is that when I make a selection, nothing happens but rather the speakers make a quick buzz. This led me to trying to get any life from the carriage through the service switch. I held the service switch into the "SCAN" position and the carriage doesn't move and I get the same quick buzz from the speakers. The manual credit switch also doesn't seem to work. I followed the service manual to a procedure chart which then brought me to some service notes. I'm not sure where to go from the service notes.
*Unusual Operation*
Something that makes this more confusing is that I began fiddling with the machine (power cycling, pressing selection buttons, and the key release button) after taking a break and to my surprise, I somehow did something that allowed the machine to accept a selection, scan to the selection, try to pull a record out (I had none in the machine of course), and begin spinning. After a minute for so, it stopped spinning and remained in the same position from where it selected the "record" from. And it did this without putting a coin in.
Here are some photos:
