KD200 Misses some selections

Hi,

I'm seeking some direction on how to remedy this problem.

Some selections that I make do not select.
The mechanism scans right past them without selecting.
However, if I continue to select the Letter/Number comination, it will eventually play. 
It may take 4 or 5 times, but it will play the song selected.

Can someone please give me a clue on what this could be?

The first thing to check is the cleanliness of the tormat itself, both the studs and the plate in the middle which provides the ground. After cleaning it, maybe the battery test should be done which will show which selections are failing (if they still are). But there are still other possibilities like the detent switch and the tormat RCA (phono type) plug/socket to name two.

I gave the tormat a good clean and it appears to be working fine.

I'll do some more testing.
