Hey folks, I picked up a 3460 model and bought the manual. This juke box was sitting in a friends garage and I'm focused on making it play correctly. He knew very little about it's history. First of all, the power cord was in need of repair, so I replaced it. I also had to replace the toggle switch on the amplifier, as it was broken as well. Soldered the new one in place. The slug rejector was missing so I purchased one on eBay and installed it. The carousel rotates only when you hold the slide switch in "scan". Also, when I turn the juke box on at the toggle switch, one of the four relays in the junction box, begins to vibrate. I noticed when I unplug the "coin mech" plug on the junction box, the relay stops making noise and vibrating. I can also say that the "latch solenoid" is not functioning. Therefore the "keyboard selector" is not activated. Where is the best place to start looking? All the lighting appears to be working. I ran some coins through the mechanism and it appears to be working, nothing jams up, but it won't make the latch solenoid work? And, I have yet to see anything operate, such as the turn table, selector arm or record changer. Thanks in advance for any help to get me started!

Just an idea - maybe the contacts in the relays are sticky and do not open/close well when being powered on. I'd suggest to clean them and try again. But it is just an idea which came into my mind.

I'll look into that. After reading Ron's comments in the FAQ section, I think I've come to realize that a Jukebox's primary function is to make money, and not play music necessarily, I need to look closer into the coin credit unit. It's only when the harness going to the junction board from the coin credit unit and slug rejector is plugged in, that it makes the relay at the junction board go crazy and start buzzing. I unplug that harness and all is quiet. However, I can't get any power to the latch solenoid by the keyboard at any time, therefore, nothing else works. I believe if the coin credit unit was doing it's job, power would be forwarded to activate the next sequence which would be the latch solenoid by the keyboard? I'll look at the relays closely then examine the coin mechanism. I know for a fact that nothing is being sent to the latch solenoid and that's a function of the coin mechanism.

Yes, right, jukeboxes were made to make money. Hence credit is needed - either with coins or (I don't know how) with fredd credits. Without credit the latch solenoid should not work at all. The latch solenoids should also not be energized constantly - it would burn. So don't try to make a bypass somehow which would energize the solenoid constantly.
