Hi all, I'm a new member here just getting started on my first jukebox as well as attempting repairing it myself. I repair EM pinball machines to a degree, so I figured I could go buy a jukebox that I always wanted and attempt to service it. I have had good luck repairing minor issues so far. I have purchased the appropriate manual for the machine and have learned a lot, but some things are not clear to me. (speaking of clear, I downloaded the manual from 'jukebox arcade' and the pdf was very poor on a handful of pages. Some of the scanning was blurred and in some cases, no page at all. They sent me a replacement couple of pages at first, but after that they refused when I needed a couple more, and accused me of copyright infringement...? Is there a better source for these where the service and quality are good? I DON'T recommend this company).
Anyway, it seems that the selection levers on this are supposed to lock upon selection and then unlock after the record finishes? This one will lock the first letter or number selected, but when selecting the second letter or number, it releases the first and doesn't lock the second at all, so both are not locked. It still selects the chosen record, but I'm not sure if it affects the playing of the record correctly, since it has playing issues as well. This issue isn't addressed in the manual, but I can tell by the other descriptions in the manual, it is supposed to work that way. The first of many issues here.. Thank you.

Nightfire, if the pages you bought are scanned from original Seeburg issue there is no "copyright" -they are full of s--t.
You didn't mention the model.
Always Jukin and Victory Glass sell good quality reprints.

Sorry, I only put it in the heading and I see it is not obvious, but it's the 1954 HF100R

Hi Walt, You must be "young"--- never played an alpha/numeric juke box --? Almost all operate the same. Never heard that question in over 50 years ! First key pushed "locks" down, 2nd key unlocks first key as selection is made--happens very quickly---- As for Service Manuals-- Seeburg did NOT issue manuals for this, and all other of the post war models, till about 1957 (?). ANY "manual" you see is a compiled manual from what they called the "Master" Manual. This consisted of a loose leaf binder, into which the subscriber was to insert new pages when issued. After the sale of the JP Seeburg corp. to the Fort Pit corp., Fort Pit "compiled" and printed individual manuals for the earlier models. Some of these "compilations" stink -- the R being one of the worst ! Others also "compiled" their own versions. If you have a good version, it MAY have some copyrighted material in it--but not too likely, as there is (and has been, for years) no, "Seeburg". To purchase them from reputable persons, use our "FAQ's" section, above--Ron Rich

Ron, Thanks for the reply! First off, I'm not really young, I'm in my 50's. I think the issue is that I was raised on the beach on SoCal (back when it was a great place!), and I don't recall any jukeboxes anywhere. I have since used a few in different establishments, but never 'paid attention' to the real workings. Thanks for info on the levers, I know now that part is working correctly. You are right about the manual, a hodge podge of a mess really, but it is all I have as you stated. I'll keep plugging away and hopefully have it all up and running with help from you guys! Walt
