First time poster. First time jukebox owner. I recently purchase a Rockola 481 at auction. Based on reviewing online service and maintenance comments and realizing that the gripper mechanism was just about immobile, I carefully disassembled the mechanism, cleaned it all, oiled it and reinstalled it. Now this mechanism moves smoothly and easily.
The gripper mechanism only moves (in play) to reset the record back to the magazine. The turntable keeps spinning and the record magazine does not spin. I have been unable to get the record magazine to spin.
The service manual indicates that if the mechanism does not start but the turntable is rotating then the problem area is either A. Play Control Relay B. Magazine Motor, or C. Mechanism Power Board. I have been able to confirm that the play control relay and the magazine motor both work. This leaves me with the mechanism power board.
I'm not much of a circuit board troubleshooter, (read that I have zero ability). My question is whether it would just be best to replace the mechanism power board and then continue my troubleshooting from there? I've found one online that has supposedly been tested. Looking for advice from the veterans out there if this would be my best plan of attack?
Thanks everyone!

Have you checked your circuit breakers. Should be a red and yellow button on power supply..Make sure these have been reset. Could also be a micro switch issue. Make sure your cam switches are in the proper position. The manuel will give you this information. The magazine will not spin unless the cam switches are in the right position.

shrimpeater thank you for sharing your thoughts. It was the micro switch not being in the cam groove. After adjusting the cam my magazine now spins. Now, onto the next steps. I appreciate the assistance!

One step at a time... Now the gripper motor is able to select the record from the carousel and it places the record on the turntable and plays the record, but moving the tonearm across the record does not trigger the gripper motor to reverse the process and return the record to the carousel. I've spun the knob at the bottom of the gripper motor to attempt to start the return process but when I switch the lever to 'operate' the gripper motor moves to return the record to the turntable. Am I right in assuming that either the tone arm switch is not sending a signal to the reverse relay, or alternately the reverse relay isn't working? Thanks again!

I found this response from another thread: Have you checked that cam switch #3 is operating OK? Cam switch #3 should energize latch relay K301
After detaching cam switch 3 and taping it closed to simulate how it would be against the cam, I turned the juke to operate and the turntable spun while the mechanism was still in play mode. At this time, I removed the tape from cam switch 3 and allowed it to 'open' and I expected to hear some click from the latch relay (am I right in expecting to hear something?). I didn't hear anything from the latch relay and I didn't see any movement.
I don't think I've narrowed this down to one or the other yet have I? This is probably where I need a voltage tester... I just need confirmation that I'm on the right path.
