Hi I have a tempo 1 200 select and a regis 120. being that getting issues fixed if needed is difficuly in my area I would like to keep whichever machine would be easier to fix if need be. the regis seems to work well and the stereo amp was rebuilt. the tempo looks a bit dirty inside so probably needs lubrication and cleaning it seems to run ok except that roller for song titles has one section that the roller bypasses when selected. wondering if that roller might be a can of worms? the sound is good but its mono and original cartridge that looks to be good also. sometimes when a song is selected the wheel turns a couple revolutions and stops and sometimes it works. any opinions on the keeper appreciated.

In general I'd say it's a matter of taste. The record changer and playing mechanism used inside are about the same in both models. If both models are overhauled well I doubt that the difference between mono and stereo sound can be heard very well. Because the cabinet speakers of Regis are quite narrow to each other which doesn't offer a real stereo sound anyway. This is only given if extra (wall)speakers are hooked up as well.
If the Tempo 1/200 never got any refurbishing, cleaning etc., then it might need more time and work to get it back to playing once it fails. Because a gummed up mechanism might need cleaning, contacts can be corroded and need a cleaning as well, micro switches can click ok but do not work neither, etc. The main difference besides the outside design is the upper title drum vs. the title rack in Regis. The drum would require some work which Regis doesn't need. But it's not rocket science.
