OK, this is just silly, but here goes.
This is a continuing saga of the other 750E that I posted as Mars Amp Repair with symptom of 'Won't stop after last selection'.
I was called back to this one for not all the selection buttons were working. (The not stopping after that last selection is on the other thread).
I had previously cleaned all the selection switches and seemed to resolve the issue...NOT!
Upon returning, all the buttons seemed to be working after I opened the box, so I tried to trace the wires from one of the buttons back to the terminals on the power transformer board. Gotta love the intermittents.
WELL, I re-cleaned the switches out of desperation and everything seemed to be working. I closed the front door and then a number of them weren't working. Any guesses?!!
Yeah, the front door was physically preventing some of the buttons from travelling completely down, hence not contacting. Yeah I know some will say, 'how could you possibly have missed that'!
So, the issue now was how to get the mech moved upward, so the buttons will have enough space below them so they can make contact. I guess again since I do not have a lot of experience on these boxes, I discovered that the mech is mounted to the thick board suspending it by 4 chrome screws. Two are accessible without moving anything kind of below the tonearm area, and the other two are below the record trays.
By merely screwing them in, I was able to raise the entire mech so the vertical movement of the buttons was no longer restricted.
I guess those screw-adjustments are ultimately just to level the mech once the unit is set in place, but also center the mech on the front panel given the variation of tolerances of a wooden box.
Hey, I learn more about these things the more I do. Forums like this one are very helpful in order to take advantage of others invaluable experience.
Thanx all...Glen - Mars Amp Repair & 12th Fret Music Service Dept, Boise, ID. (BTW, I do the Jukebox repairs on my own thru Mars Amp Repair).
