Can anyone offer a little advice please?
I have been working on the above machine for a few months now, have reached a stage where it actually picks up a record and plays it (at the right speed now
).
The next step is replacing all the capacitors in the amp and other electronics. but I have also been trying to sort out and tidy up the tangle of chopped around wiring that is the Speaker System. I have come to the decision that the best approach to this would be to completely re-wire the Loudspeaker System, but I have hit upon a small problem.
The wiring to the five-pin plug that fits into the main electronics panel (see pics below)...

... has been chopped so close to the plug shroud (see taped joints) that I would like to remove the cover and replace the connected cables with new. My problem is - I can't be sure how to remove the metal cover without damaging it. The shroud seems to turn (albeit only slightly), but I haven't been able to remove it completely, and I don't want to force anything for fear of breaking it.
Does anyone know:-
Does this twist off,
... or maybe should it just pull free,
... or is it crimped in place and not intended to be removed at all?
