Hi Everyone I just received to me my first Jukebox. 1976 Seeburg STD3. Unfortunately, the sellers though it was okay to bring it to me on its back in the back of a UHaul. It is now upright and sitting in my garage where I have started to look it over. I did power it up and it lights up. I went to select a record and the carrier only moves back and forth and then stops. It doesn't grab a record at all..I am assuming because of how it was transported there may be something out of whack? I want to get a manual for it, could you suggest a site for me to purchase a digital version? And of course any suggestions on what I should look at to see if I can make it pick up a record? Thanks all... I am excited to dig deep and make this a beauty again. Ta Ta Dezi

Hi Dezi, welcome to the site. Please feel free to read through all the sticky posts on the front page of the Seeburg section- it has a lot of useful information that will get you started for no money. Transporting the juke on its back is asking for trouble for sure, without knowing how rough the ride was it's hard to estimate what could have happened. Scanning without picking up tends to be a grounding issue but there can be several other causes. If the machine has sat for a long time without use and hasn't been repaired by a competent technician, it's quite possible the modules need recapping (it's almost a certainty in fact if the unit wasn't just pulled from active use). Jukebox Arcade has online manuals available for purchase with instant download. They are however protected files that can't be duplicated or printed, and can only be downloaded three times, so if that's an issue for you it may be better to spend a little more for hard copies. Victory Glass sells specific manuals as do a few others- tack them onto your inevitable parts order. The late Ron Rich and Tony Miller both published some unofficial repair and history guides that are highly recommended as well. You'll find links for those by going through the stickies. The best advice I can give you if this is your first juke is get all the publications you can get your hands on and study them thoroughly. Ron Rich was a very active contributor here and very generous with his time until shortly before he passed, and I was lucky to be able to interact with him in the last couple years. It's a small community now and it may be awhile before you get a response to a specific question, so it's best to have as much written info at hand as possible. Good luck.

Dezi your Seeburg is the eight year after my experience ends. the largest gain in my knowledge was from reading [and understanding] the manual. My general knowledge ends with the last of the key-board [LS2] units.
the black and grey box machines [earliest of the key pad selection] differ in the selection input. that it scans twice and quits narrows the initial problem search to write in and read out problems. but again get and read the manual best wishes
