This is mainly for Hildegard who maintains an archive of jukeboxes at their website at Jukebox World.
This Emaphone (French jukebox) is currenly being used as a prop on lunchtime Italain TV (RAI 1). Because it's just a prop, you don't really get a good look at it.

Hi Norman, Thank you for thinking of me. I hope you're doing well.
This looks indeed interesting. And I wonder what model this might be exactly. On first sight it looks like a Marchant Emaphone 140 or 112. But comparing it is neither one. Differences are the missing upper "Emaphone" emblem title holders, mechanism emblem, front panel, bars on speaker grille. I wonder how one could make a selection resp. making the carriage moving as there is only one knob at the fron panel visible. There seems to be a little switch on the upper right corner of the front panel. Unfortunatley the chair covers the lower right corner which could tell more.
Does it have the Citroën V emblem on the front too ...
Maybe it was made for being a prop only?

Hi Hildegarde, I don't think it's a prop, it certainly looks fairly real to me! And last year on the same lunchtime show, there was a Tonomat (Teleramic 200 I seem to remember). Unforunaely you rarely see it close enough or long enough. I wondered if you made the selection by turning the knob on the front panel, there also seems to be a pushbutton in the middle. It would seem to be the only way! It definitely says Emaphone on the mechanism cover. Here is another picture. Norman. picture hosting sites

Hi Norman, thank you for the new picture. You are right, it is a real jukebox and it shows Emaphone for sure on the emblem. And yes, it seems to be a pushbutton in the center of the knob at the front panel. So first turning and then making the selection by pressing the pushbuttone. I still wonder what model this might be. From the number of title strips it is a 112 selection model. There was a 112M (Standard) and a 112S (DeLuxe). But we have only a picture of one of them not knowing which one it is. www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Marchant/Emaphone112.htmThere are obvious differences besides the colour scheme: 1. Titleholder 2. Shape of mechanism emblem 3. Bars in front of speaker grille 4. It has two doors at the right side (cashbox and slug rejector maybe like AMI?) 5. The V shaped ornament at the front panel Conclusion so far: Either it is a not known model Emaphone made by French Marchant or It is a modified resp. licensed version by another (Italian) company. I will keep an eye on this hoping to find the answer one day. Hildegard

Dear Norman, just an update: I added this Emaphone to the Marchant section in the archive. And I found a flyer of another one I've never seen before - called "Falco". It is a kind of background music system and can play in general 16, 33, 45 and 78 rpm records. I am not sure if it has a coin entry, probably not. The flyer is an Italian one but printed in German. www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Marchant/EmaphoneCompact.htm#FalcoHildegard
