Hi Everyone,
I recently picked up a Rowe/AMI Berkeley Wall Phono Jukebox which I would like to change from Fluorescent lamps to LED tubes.
The lighting consists of an electronic ballast, and (2) T8 18” bulbs (1) T5 9” Bulb and (1) T5 6” bulb.
Incoming to the ballast (J1) are White, Black/White, Brown and Green. It looks like Green is ground, White is Neutral and Black is HOT. I’m not sure what the Brown wire is for.
Exiting the ballast (J2) are Red, White, Blue, Orange and Gray wires which connect to the lamp fixtures.
It appears that each socket is being used. There is a purple common, that runs to one pin on each side of all the tombstone connectors. The purple wire also has a capacitor inserted between each run on the connection to each lamp.
Below is how the fluorescent tubes are currently wired.
P = Purple
R = Red
W = White
B = Blue
O = Orange
G = Gray
T8 -18”

The LED tubes that I have purchased look like they are double-ended—both sides are used each side is shunted. From what I understand to connect them directly to 110/120v power the wiring should look like this:
L = LINE or HOT
N = NEUTRAL

Would the above wiring diagram be correct? Do I just bypass the ballast and use the incoming power that goes to J1 on the ballast?
Thanks,
Robert
