All Rowe (AMi's), using the A-MP (brand--now TEC) slide-on connectors are subject to having very common problems with that type plug, and " headers". These are famous for intermittently loosing contact. There is NO "cure" for this, but there is a solution that will work for years, till it needs repeating. On the white plastic housing, remove ONE pin at a time, be sure it's clean (if burned, it, as well as the pin it connects too, MUST be replaced !) re-form each one, so, it fits into the housing tightly. On the board--be sure the " header" pin is clean--replace it, preferably with "square" pin{s}*, if dis-colored. Re flow solder on all connections--install plug very carefully--line it up correctly--first ! * older header pins were round in shape--later ones are "square", but can be inserted into the header in the same way, once an old round type, has been removed Edit--Service switch problems-- Rowe's from the R-83 up using the black sliding (Switchcraft brand) switch are known to suffer failures within this switch ! This is easily "rectimfied" by turning the power OFF. and cleaning said switch with a plastic safe/safety solvent, drying totally, followed by another "cleaning", AS PER CAN INSTRUCTIONS, on a can of Deoxit-5 ( I have no connection with this product--just found it to be "the best"). On my Rowe R-88here ore 2 outlets on main power supply. one is unswitched use for amp only. The other one says service 250 watt max. I moved the plug to that outlet and I have sound. Will it hurt to leave it there?

Hi Deno, That's also somewhat common--no problem, as both those outlets in a domestic, wired phono, are un-switched.
