Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 429. I can add coins, the selection indicator light activates, but when I attempt the push buttons, they don't select/engage. In other words, the selections never lock. This just started happening today. I made a selection, and there was a "hum". The write in carriage started to move, but never made it to the selection on write in disc. Since then, the selections never lock. Any thoughts? Thanks!! -Mike

I checked all the fuses that I could find as well and tested them with a bussmann tester, and they're all good. I'm wondering if there's a bad solenoid?

Look at the lock-bar solenoid - see page 24 of the manual - with the credit light on, is it energised? If so, is it pulling across the bar which allows the pushbuttons to latch?

Thanks, Norman. As far as I can tell it's not. It looks like I'll have to get a multimeter to know for sure!

Can you not see it move if you power off and on?

Correct. It doesn't move at all. I can manually toggle it to close the circuit, and I can depress the letters and numbers, but when I release, they don't register. I don't even know if that makes sense! LOL

When you manually move the solenoid and press both pushbuttons to make a selection, the write-in relay should operate which in turn makes the write-in motor run; the buttons don't release until the selection is made. So I suspect that you have lost the 25VAC.

Thanks, Norman. I was afraid of that. I'll have to research a bit more to see what it takes to replace the 25VAC. Much appreciated.
