M100C Interior trim

Novice restoration of an M100C... interior foil replacement question.   On each side of the interior, where the mechanism shelf meets the sides, there is a trim piece on each side, like chrome "cove" molding.  Will add pics later. 


I cannot figure out how to remove this trim without damaging it? 


It looks as if the shelf itself should be removable to access the sides of the "shelf" but cannot remove that.  Solid even with screws removed.

I typically just gently pry them out with a small screwdriver. They have small "barbs" on them that will release. Sometimes they take some patience but eventually they will work themselves out. I struggled with them a lot on my first attempt
